Making smart choices starts now.
Police and loss prevention officers from Great Lakes Crossing Outlet Mall and WYA team together each year to conduct educational presentations to all fifth-grade students in the Waterford School District. For the past ten years, the “Got Caught! Now What?” Program has had 100% participation in all Waterford School District fifth-grade classrooms. Thank you to students from West Bloomfield High School for the production of our new video, “Shoplifting The Crime, The Community, The Consequences.”
Students who completed post-presentation surveys say they have learned that shoplifting can affect your whole life; If you’re with someone that steals, you can get into trouble too; and shoplifting is more serious than you think.
As a result, 3.8% of students are less likely to shoplift after learning that shoplifting is a serious crime that comes with life-changing consequences.
95% of students committed to NOT shoplift after learning that shoplifting is a serious crime that comes with life-changing consequences.
